On 02/12/16 we started choreographing the dance to 'Killer Queen'. I had some initial ideas for choreography by working outside of lessons with Izzy, and to begin we showed what we had to the class and talked about what we thought would be effective. We mainly showed stiff robotic movements to represent the fact that the Yuppies are brainwashed to obey Killer Queen, and we thought that the song could represent how much they admire her, and so are bragging to the audience, through actions as we thought it would be effective for them to have no facial expressions to show their lack of thoughts and feelings.
The class liked what me and Izzy had as we choreographed it up to the middle of the first verse, and we worked with everyone contributing ideas to choreograph up to the middle of the second verse, and we then decided to repeat the chorus.
The use of repetition for this song is effective I think because it represents the robotic movements and elaborates on the idea of their brainwashing if it is not already clear to the audience. We discussed the idea of it looking purposely rehearsed, as if the Yuppies wanted to introduce Killer Queen to the audience, and anyone else who meets her, to show their admiration for her even more than we have shown already.
