I feel that this rehearsal was productive, because we worked on adding physical theatre to the Prospera and Caliban scene, which introduces Caliban the the audience. I think it was productive because we worked in 2 groups to create the beginning entrance to the scene, myself and Izzy worked together as Miranda and Prospera enter together, and Amber and Holly worked on the physical theatre to their song at the beginning of the scene. The physical theatre is effective here because it links to one of the aims for our performance which is to use physical theatre, but it also explores and explains the narrative towards the audience so that they are more clear on what is happening in the scene.
I tried to ensure that my facial expressions were clear so that when we rehearse and perform at boat, I am used to adding the unnatural expressions, making them natural to me, so that the audience can see what my character is feeling in this scene, which is fear. The big expressions will be effective here not only to express emotions, but to also so that they are visible to the audience in the large theatre space, and the natural lighting which will fade as the performance progresses.
Overall, I think that this lesson was successful because I was able to develop my skills as a performer by choreographing a new physical theatre motif, but also because I contributed a lot of ideas towards the motif, like when I suggested that I pull on Izzy's arm to represent the fact that my character doesn't want to go, but Izzy pulls me and controls me to show her character's manipulation. To improve I would like to maintain the physical theatre throughout the scene, to keep the fast pace going to make the overall scene more interesting and tidy.
